Innovative global cannabinoid company Cronos Group Inc. (NASDAQ: CRON) (TSX: CRON) announced recently Mike Gorenstein has been appointed by the Board of Directors as CEO, President and Chairman beginning March 21, 2022 as Kurt Schmidt retires.
About Mike Gorenstein
Mike Gorenstein was previously the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cronos until he transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman in September 2020. In addition, Mike is a Co-Founder of Gotham Green Partners.
Prior to joining Cronos, Mike served as Vice President and General Counsel at Alphabet Partners, LP, a New York City based investment management firm that specializes in finding mispriced assets across various industries, asset classes, and geographies. Prior to working at Alphabet Partners, LP, he was a corporate attorney at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions.
Mike has a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, a certificate in Business Economics and Public Policy from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science of Business in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
Mike Gorenstein Duties as New Cronos CEO
Mike Gorenstein’s will initially focus on multiple items as he returns to Cronos including the delivery of margin accretive growth that is focused on adult-use product formats while Cronos continues to drive rare cannabinoid development and commercialization.
Additionally, as CEO Mr. Gorenstein will work to cut costs and focus investments on opportunities with the highest potential ROI, particularly investments that are “borderless” in nature which have the potential to create new incremental revenue streams as markets emerge. A large goal is to continue positioning Cronos as a leader and winner in the United States legal cannabis market.
